This strand of quality Amethyst beads has:
Quantity: Forty two (42) beads, 10″ strand
Shape: Faceted square cube beads
Size: 5-6mm
Quality: I’ve got to call this Amethyst a grade A, it’s pretty nice overall. These are the kind of quality Amethysts where you hold them up to the light and see ever so slightly different shades of grape through them – which I absolutely love. The saturation of these guys is really excellent, and they are still light enough to show to be very vibrant purple in color.  (Amethyst can suffer the same fate as Garnet, in that it can get too dark to show it’s lovely color when the stone gets larger.)  At the same time, these are not really transparent, nor are they mostly translucent – they are somewhere in between.

In addition, they are not pristine on their surface – although they are sparkly & bright, there is just a little something that says “if you paid $300 more for these they would sparkle like diamonds” – I don’t really know what it says, but suffice it to say they are not pristine. Overall a fantastic material that looses a couple of fractional points because they could have a touch more life to them.
