Quality: I’m going to have to call this moonstone cabochons set about an A- grade. These are really nice cabs without being those super-gem-quality-crazy Rainbow Moonstone cabs. They have a shy flash, and that combined with their translucence (rather than being transparent) is what prevents them from being spectacular.

I did see a nick or a bump (not on the face, just on the edge of the back) on one or two stones, but really not even enough to mention. There may be a slight black spot on one or two of these, but really, they are amazing quality cabs! Having these makes me want to go out & buy a torch – BAD! Alas, I am not the jeweler – you are, so I must live vicariously through the beautiful things you will make with these!

Moonstone is an alternate birthstone for June, and Hindu lore says that the radiant shimmer of moonstone is from captured moonbeams in the stone. Dreamy, eh?
