Quality: I’m going to have to call this moonstone pendant bead about an A grade. This is a really nice piece without being super-gem-quality-crazy Rainbow Moonstone. It has a wonderful flash, and the only thing that keeps it from being perfect is that the flash shows off at different angles as opposed to head-on, as well as the fact that it is more opaque to lightly translucent.
The flash is good, but will not do it from every direction. At the same time, this is an awesome, glossy, chunky square of moonstone that you just want to keep touching (& larger moonstones are difficult to find)! This moonstone inspires me – alas, I am not the jeweler – you are, so I must live vicariously through the beautiful things you will make with these! In addition, this stone can be used as a cabochon or a bead due to the drill holes being placed on the sides of the stone.

Moonstone is an alternate birthstone for June, and Hindu lore says that the radiant shimmer of moonstone is from captured moonbeams in the stone. Dreamy, eh?
