Quality: I’m going to have to call these Quality Rainbow Moonstone Briolettes beads about an A grade. These are somewhat shy about flashing but they really do. I had to go through and inspect each stone to find out for sure, and yes, I found three stones that wouldn’t flash – some others I had to look for it, but they flashed nonetheless. (I hate it when you buy moonstone only to discover that three stones flash brilliantly and the rest have nothing!)

At first glance (and in the image) they don’t appear to have much flash – but when you actually look through them you notice two things. One, is that they have more flash than they initially appeared to, and also that the quality of the stone is really pretty great. They are very translucent and have a lovely ethereal haze to them. The cut is quite consistent, and although done by hand, it’s solid & sparkling. Overall, a surprising strand of briolettes with a lot of (rather shy) flash in a quality stone that is cut well.

Moonstone is an alternate birthstone for June, and Hindu lore says that the radiant shimmer of moonstone is from captured moonbeams in the stone. Dreamy, eh?
