Quality: I’m going to have to call these Quality Sunstone Beads an A grade. I absolutely love the confetti Sunstone beads – I love any stones that are clear with phenomena in them! These guys have lovely orange inclusions that give the rich sunny sparkle. Since these guys are variegated, the degree of orange with sparkle versus clear with orange confetti shifts across the strand and you end up with a selection of both! The cut looks pretty good, but I always expect a difficult drill hole or two in hand cut stones. Finally, these guys have the characteristic of sunstone that makes me love it so much – they have those chunks of copper suspended in the stone that give it it’s unique color and sparkle!

Sunstone is such a fun stone. It’s sparkle is called aventuresence, and is due to metal inclusions in the stone. I knew a gem dealer once who would tell a fable about how the sparkle in the sunstone is actually the spectacular beauty of the sun captured in the stone.
