Description

This strand of genuine Ametrine beads has:
Quantity: About 50 beads (about 11″ long)
Shape: Radial facet coin or disc shape
Size: 5-6mm
Quality: I’ve got to call this Ametrine a grade B. This ametrine is very light & clear (although it is not clean, it is certainly transparent) with a very subtle pink & yellow color to it. There are some issues with some of the beads, in that they are not perfectly drilled – they are quite tricky – they are the kind of beads that you look at them and think they’re 100% perfect, then as you go through them you realize that they vary in thickness & some are better than others. So overall, they look great, but upon closer inspection, you can find issues. I tried really hard to have these issues show up in the images – but they just won’t do it! They like to show off their best side 😉

Ametrine is both Amethyst and Citrine, and when they occur in the same stone together – voila – Ametrine is born (although you know that already). What you may not know is that Ametrine is quite rare because of the citrine component (Citrine is so rare, that almost all of the Citrine available today is actually treated Amethyst – which is a different story entirely), which is quite rare anymore. Although Quartz (of which Amethyst, Citrine, and Ametrine are part of) is notoriously difficult to authenticate, I personally assume most of the stones I encounter these days to be treated in some way.
