Quality: I’m going to have to call this Tourmaline pendant bead a B grade. As you might not be able to see in the image, the surface has issues – it’s not perfectly smooth & shiny. In fact, it has general roughness throughout the stone (i.e. some edges, some natural textures on the faces). These surface issues kind of add to the organic appeal of this stone. I took images with the light behind it and without, because you can see both the advantages & disadvantages for this stone. The color is incredible – with the light behind it it’s an amazing piece with great color & translucence. Without the light behind it, you can see that it has a very organic, almost unfinished surface (for a faceted stone that is). I love the long shape and it has a great solid green color. It’s a beautiful olive green in the light, and really quite translucent.

Like it or not, when you tell people it’s genuine Tourmaline (just like with aquamarine), their eyebrows will go up & they will have another look – they can’t help it.
